SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGEDr. Eric Prater, SuperintendentWe made it through the first week of school closure and discovered the challenges of our new normal. There are many celebrations and acknowledgements for the heroic work of staff, parents, and students to make the best of this imposing situation. A recent example of this was shared with me by a grateful parent. These two San Luis Coastal teachers shared the healing power of laughter with their students last week. You should check it out. After listening to feedback from our parent community, I would like to strike a balance with our communications. I understand you are inundated with ParentSquare updates from the district office and school sites on a daily basis. This is in addition to ongoing communications from your child’s teachers. In an effort to maintain the flow of critical information, I will provide this Family Communication every Friday beginning this week. If more information needs to be shared, I will provide it to our site principals to include in their regular communications with you. I hope you find this helpful. As we begin Week 2 of virtual learning, please know we are working closely with our staff to clarify expectations and online protocols. We are trying to keep learning alive, students engaged, and emotional wellness as a priority. This is no small effort; however, I believe we have the capacity in our hearts and minds to achieve these goals. Please find ways to connect with those you love - even if it’s six feet apart. Talk to you on Friday.BUSINESS SERVICESRyan Pinkerton, Assistant Superintendent of Business ServicesFood Services Opens Online OrderingWe are adjusting our meal service plans to better protect our staff and better serve our families.
